Achievements during 75years of Post-Independent India

On 15th august, 2022 India has completed its 75 years of independence with continuous process of growth and development during the period.

       After getting independence from British rule in 15th august 1947, gradually India has gained many achievements during the period of time.



These achievements are as follows-

ü Political Achievement- Our forefathers have framed world’s largest written constitution of India after the period of 2 years, 11months and 18days on 26th nov1949, which was enacted on 26th january1950 and made India a Republic Union.

ü Social Achievement- GOI brought different policies and Welfare programme for social and human development.

·       In area of health and education, a remarkable achievement observed during period of time.

Example- Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Poshan Abhiyan, Matritva Yojana, Mid-day meal scheme for school children, Right to Education as fundamental right, Ayushman Bharat Mission-PMJAY, New Education policy2020 etc.

·       MGNREGA, NRLM(National Rural Livelihood Mission), NFSA(National Food Security Act and Mission), Old Age Pension Scheme, PM Awas Yojana etc. are scheme brought social security to the beneficiaries.

·       Recently launched Swachha Bharat Mission is a great step towards clean and hygienic environment.

ü Economic Achievement-

    During 75 years India witnessed a remarkable achievement in different sectors of economy-

·       Agriculture & Allied activities-

Green Revolution was adopted during 1960s with new innovative technologies of HYVs (High Yield Varieties) seeds, farm mechanized tools, fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides etc. to enhance agricultural productivity of food grains to make India self-sufficient in food production.



              Apart of it different revolutions like yellow, pink, blue, golden adopted to make India self-sufficient in varieties of food, which not only reduced India’s import of Food but also improved BoP (Balance of Payment).

White Revolution and Operation Flood was adopted to enhance production of milk and resulted India as largest producer of milk in the world.

·       Industries-

India witnessed an industrial development after Independence by adopting different industrial policies, started from 1948 to give boost to Indian industries.

       Under the industrial policies, large numbers of industries were established in India with assistance of Indian government and foreign governments.

Example- Iron & steel industries at Bhilai, Raurkela and Durgapur were established with the assistance of USSR, Germany and Britain.

Many Textile Industries like cotton, Jute, Silk, woolen etc.  Sugar industries were established.

·       Service Sector-

India is among the few countries in the world which transformed from primary sector to directly tertiary sector by recording large growth. Service sector has largest contribution in GDP of country.

·       LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) System adopted in 1991 to open Indian economy and linked it with Global Economy, which gave new economic opportunity to country.

·       Finance sector- Country has witnessed growth of different financial services like Banking, Insurance, Mutual Funds, Primary and Secondary markets.

GOI has established different regulatory organizations like RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA etc. to regulate finance sector as well as to ensure Financial Inclusion of last section of society.

·       Economic Planning- After independence Planning Commission was established to adopt F.Y.P. (Five Year Planning) process to achieve socio-economic targets within specifies time frame. During this planning, various targets was set to achieve Socio-economic growth and development of country.

·       Energy Sector- after independence India witnessed huge potential in energy generation.

Energy through non-renewable resources like Thermal power plants by using coal like NTPC, Petroleum & Natural gas, Renewable resources like Hydro projects (Dams & Reservoirs) and multipurpose river valley projects like DVC,  solar, wind, Biomass, Geothermal etc.

·       Infrastructure, Transportation and Communication- Physical Infrastructure projects like Roads, Highways, Railways, Waterways and Airways etc. have been developed during period of time as mean of fast transportation as well as every remote corner of country is linked with Digital infrastructure to establish communication services.

Example- Bharatmala, Sagarmala, Broadband Connectivity etc.

ü Achievements in field of Science & Technology-

·       Space Technology- India witnessed a remarkable growth in Space technology.

       Development of Indigenous satellites like Aryabhata, INSAT series, CARTOSAT, RESOURCESAT, NAvic (Regional navigation system), GiSAT etc.

Indigenously developed lunch vehicles like SLV, PSLV      and GSLV etc.            

        Space Missions like Mangalyaan, Chandrayaan-1 & 2, ASTROSAT and upcoming missions like Gaganyaan, Aditya L1 (Sun), Shukrayaan etc.

·       Defense Technology- Indigenously developed missiles by DRDO like – Prithvi, Agni, Trisula, Nag, Akash; Brahmos missile Assisted by Russia etc.

       Arihant class of Nuclear Submarines, Anti-tank missiles, Ships, Helicopters, fighter planes etc.

·       Biotechnology- In this area, a continuous R&D process is going on in different fields of-



Agriculture

Medicine

Food Processing

Waste Treatment

Energy Production

Bioremediation Techniques

  By using DNA-Recombinant technology and CRISPR technology etc.

·       Information Technology- many emerging fields of IT like AI(Artificial Intelligence), IoT(Internet of Things), Cloud Computing, Networking, AR-VR(Augmented Reality – Virtual Reality) etc. are progressing in India.



ü International Relations- During period of time, India strived towards maintaining strong relations with neighboring, Regional and other countries through participating with different multilateral organizations.

Example – United Nation, SAARC, ASEAN, BIMSTECH, BRICS, SCO etc.

          Presently India has a great influence in Indian Ocean Region as well as Indo-Pacific Region.

                 Due to Economic drain of Indian wealth by British during colonial era, India faced huge problems due to lack of resources but gradually during course of time, India has achieved a remarkable growth in every sector after independence, which is a still continuous process to achieve growth to make India a Healthy and Prosperous country.
